I picked up a copy for a flight 2 weeks ago and Koji Kameda is not ranked at all. Can't expect too many responses.

I am guessing it is because of the move up in weight. But you would think he would still garner a mention.
Margarito Lover
#10 in flyweights.

I was fairly drunk. lol

That would be an excuse, for a lesser drinker.

It was 8am after 4 straight days. You know I was trapped there at the airport and I got stuck on that for 15 minutes.

Feel free. My debate was shit. I could have sworn he wasn't ranked at all.

OK...

So how is Sergio Mora #10 at 160 right now?

How is Steve Urkal still in the top 10 at 147 and how did Cotto get to #3?

PWillIsGod
Urkal is puzzling. He only won a few prelim fights at the weight. My biggest issue at 47 would be #5. How a guy who hasn't won a fight in 2 years can be in the top 10 is beyond my comprehension.

I guess the only answer I can come up with is even though 47 has a lot of great top heavy fights. It has to be a shallow pool with Judah and Urkal ranked.

Ask Covert about Mora
Juutalainen
I guess they rank Celebrity when they do the rankings.
Mtagwa_Valero
The Mora thing is horrible. Shouldnt even be top 20.
Transa
Jermain Taylor is still top 10 P4P headshaker.gif

Because he is better than the guys below him...well maybe PWill beats him haven't seen him fight much.
crold1
Depends on when you got an issue. From emails with Nigel (and I email him all the time with my ratings thoughts...poor Nigel) I think they won't rate guys moving up until after they have one fight there except in rare occasions. Kameda is rated now with two fights at 112.

I'm a member of the panel and I'M not even down with that.

They have a way of tucking a guy like Mora into #10 and before you know it, the man has fought three more times against average top 40ish level guys and he's #2 at 160 when he had no business being at #10....

THAT is why sneaking softies in there for shits and giggles with no solid foundation of fights and elite experience get their ratings in a pinch later down the road...

I mean how did Steve Urkal get to be in the top 10? All of a sudden Cotto's win "means something" because Urkal was a top 10 guy there...There are many examples of this...I would almost rather them only rank 8-guys if they are pulling out random guys to simply fill spots...

About a year ago they tucked Pavlik in at #10 after beating Zuniga...Pavlik at the time had fought a string of soft fighters meant to pad his record and he found his way into that spot and of course now he beat a top 3 guy in Miranda and belonmgs there, but a year ago I think its a pretty weak argument getting him inside the top 10...

I think Mijares is the best at 115.

Travis Simms ranked below Vernon Forest and Oscar De La Hoya?! Simms would beat them both from pillar to post.

Pure speculation. He looked fantastic in dissecting Jose Rivera. Rivera is tough but limited. That should be kept in perspective. "...beat them both from pillar to post" is a bit much considering this guy's opposition.

It was the state of the game issue. I forgot to check last night. I can understand that policy, but they also tend to leave said fighter ranked in the lower weight division instead of dropping them all together.

Thanks

Oh boy...ANother Travis Simms fan...

The man beats McKart and Rivera over THREE PLUS years and he should now be ranked above Forrest and Hoya?

Like I said, you tuck a guy like Alex Garcia or Jose Rivera inside the top 10 when they dont belong and all of a sudden the guy who beats one of the guys who dont belong gets comments like these...

laugh.gif Oscar beat Mayorga. Rivera or Garcia would kick his ass on heart alone. Forrest got a robbery against Ike. That's it.

Rivera or Garcia would kick who's ass?

Because Rivera beat some bum in Germany in 2003 and beat Garcia, who beat Roshii Wells means something? These guys toil in obscurity against no-namers...But beating them MEANS something....Go figure...
PWillIsGod
Mayorga's, like he stole something. I just ask that you be consistent. I am unreasonable saying Judah should not be ranked in the top 10 since he hasn't won a fight in 2 years.

Yet Simms is overrated because he just beat a champion in a piss poor division. Who has Oscar or Forrest beat recently? Nobody

We are on the same page about the deadly Josh Clottey though. If he moved up to 54 he could thrash Simms, Forrest & Oscar in the same night.

You are a good guy Mark...

On that note, I think Jose Rivera and Travis Simms are highly, highly over-rated....Like uber over-rated...Rivera should thank his lucky stars that Mayorga became "super" champ to allow Rivera to play with the paper WBA title at 147...

I think you put to much stock in wins over "some German" and Alex Garcia...That's what Rivera has done since 2003...

Simms beat Bronco McKart, Garcia and Rivera since 2003...Its like inbreeding...They aren't beating anyone worth a shit except each other...Judah has fought more since 2003 than both combined...And he held THE lineal 147-lb title, not the interim, emeritus, regular, paper WBA 154-lb title...

You say Judah hasn't done shit in two years...I will one up ya...What has Rivera or Simms done in four? smile.gif

I'm sorry, but I will take a loss to Mayweather and Baldomir over a Bronco McKart victory anyday of the week...

I look forward to your thoughts and thanks for keeping this fun... smile.gif

Did you even know Clottey runs 45-miles a day and has a huge head? Clottey beats Taylor at 160 right now...
SenseFullViolence

Ima Travis Simms fan, i agree he beats DHL & Forrest wouldn't even be competitive. But homie had like a 2 year layoff before the Rivera fight, that may account for his low ranking. Can't rank skill & talent absent of actual fights.

I think many lower ranked fighters could be top guys, but I can't have a ranking that millions of boxing fans look to based on "so and so beats De la Hoya right now, therefore he should be ranked"...

There must be some concrete fights to point to to move up and be ranked...

I am sorry, beating Alex Garcia, who even with his WBA paper title never got higher than #10 at 154 and beating a spent, semi-retired Bronco McKart and then beating Jose Rivera, whose biggest win was over Garcia, who himself never beat anyone, as your three wins over 4+ years is kinda nuts...

I met and like Simms style, but what should my personal opinion have to do with him getting a high ranking?
PWillIsGod
I am not saying they have bested the world. No one in the entire top 10 at 54 has a good recent resume. The division is a joke.

As for Rivera/mayorga. Ricardo was too much of a pussy to fight him and he came in 5lbs over the weight. That led to the memorable Mayorga/Mitchell snoozer.

EDIT: And I forgot to add in....

What on earth is Anthony Peterson doing at #10 at 135? WHO has he beat to get there?
PWillIsGod
Lol........I don't take exception to young undefeated guys like Williams and Peterson getting ranked there. It beats seeing an Urkal. But I can't offer you any explanation other then he is talented tongue.gif
