Curious what the rest of you thought about the 2nd episode of this series. I thought it was a little strange how they didn't show what actually happened in the first pair of fights. They spent a lot of time showing the build up in the days leading up to the fights, but at this point these fights are a month old. They are saving the fights themselves for the next episode, but the first pair of fights will REALLY be old news by then. Doesn't really make sense to me. And they hardly spent much time with Kessler and Ward, which seems counterintuitive since they are the ones who are going to fight this weekend. There were a couple of interesting bits, but for the most part it was pretty boring. I enjoyed the first episode of the series, but this one didn't do anything for me.

Of the nearly 30 minutes, only about 5 minutes was dedicated to Kessler/Ward. I thought it was a strange show...they should have spend at least half of the episode on Kessler and Ward. Not exactly sure what they were trying to accomplish.

I also don't like them showing the build up to two fights we've already seen and know the outcome. I initially thought they were going to show the aftermath of those two fights and the build up of Kessler-Ward.
Not digging the 2nd episode tho I did like the little coverage they did have on Ward and Kessler. I'll be rooting for Ward.

yeah... what the fuck was that all about? Both of those guys (Dirrell/Froch) are asses (in and out the ring) and had the worst fight (I suspect/hope) of the tournament. I expected to see way more footage of Kess and Ward preparing for their upcoming fight. I did like what little I saw and I can't wait for tomorrow's fight. At this point I can't say I'm 100% behind either guy, since I like them both. Ward has better boxing abilities and I think he's naturally more physically gifted, but Kessler has quick & powerful hands. Let's see if Ward's chin can stand up to the test.

That really was a lost opportunity.

Ward was doing my workout (run around Lake Merritt, then up and down the Cleveland cascade of steps - i also jump rope).
If you saw how virile and imposing i looked, you'd bet the house on Ward.
agree the show was weird - i wouldnt have minded the run-up to the fights if it was shorter and they also showed the aftermath - as it was it was like, huh, are you trying to make this a cliff-hanger, we know what happened dudes.
and yeah, a little more on Kess-Ward

I love the fact that they are doing mini-docs on the series, but the content in this one was certainly lacking.
I was hoping for a lot more coverage on Ward and Kess.
Kess mom looks like a witch.

The issue seems to be that they won't/can't turn around the show like 24/7 does. Everything except the Kessler-Ward stuff should have been shown before the fights. Nice to see it now, but what's the point?
A few suggested this rivaled 24/7 after episode one. I think this second episode showed us the distinction between the two. HBO's programs have a flow and story arc to them, often with themes that they counterpoint between the fighters. Showtime's was a random patchwork of footage and soundbites. Just not in the same class IMO.
I still enjoyed seeing the show, because the fighters are interesting guys, but I think the only thing I can say that Showtime has an advantage with as opposed to HBO, is that the show doesn't use set up shots (pre-fabricated shots). On the other hand, Fight Camp 360 clearly pales in comparison for that very reason; Showtime can't control what they get, where as HBO is willing to create circumstances if it means the final product is better.
Bottom line; Showtime needs to give us the content in a more timely fashion (and on a regular schedule) if it wants the show to be relevant.

I totally agree with what you wrote above and I think the lack of any narrative structure whatsoever is the most glaring problem with the show, and it goes hand in hand with the curious decisions about what to put in.

i actually like fight 360.....it seems more natural, 24/7 is pretty much scripted, but 24/7 does a better job at promoting the fight and that is the whole point of these shows, so i have to give the nod to HBO on this one
and froch is such a prick........i am english and i cant stand him god knows what the rest of the world thinks

I actually prefer the unscripted feel of Fight Camp 360.
The last 24/7 was terrible--totally contrived and focusing on irrelevant characters such as Cotto's fat guy.
I liked the scenes of Shaw and Dirrell waiting for Froch; gave a good insight into their character, or lack of. Dirrell was really nervous for the fight.
I agree that they need to be turned around faster.
Still, if the overall goal was to get folks more excited for the tournament, I think it did a good job. I am more interested in the tourney after watching both episodes. I also have a better idea of what the Super 6 feels like in Europe--it's bigger there than the U.S. And AA and Kessler are pretty big stars in their home countries which is fun to see.
Hopefully after tonights result--Ward builds a bigger following.
