There are those people even crazier than King apparently.

King Beaten In Bahamas
Published: December 8, 1981
Don King, the boxing promoter, has called off a news conference scheduled for tomorrow to announce the Wilfred Benitez-Roberto Duran fight, apparently because he is unable to face the press after being beaten up Sunday morning in Freeport, the Bahamas.
He was treated later at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for ''facial lacerations,'' according to Dorothy Griffin, supervisor of nursing, and released an hour later. The associate, who spoke on the condition that he not be identified, said yesterday that the promoter also had a broken nose, ''some busted teeth and a busted lip.'' He said that King did not go to the police in the Bahamas.
King was in Freeport, the Bahamas, where, he said, five men burst into his room and beat him up. King had been there to talk with Trevor Berbick, who was training in Freeport. King claimed that he had an option on Berbick's next fight, and that Berbick had violated their agreement when he signed to meet Muhammad Ali. King said he had flown to Freeport to work out an accommodation with Berbick. A few days after the attack, for which he says he was hospitalized, King charged in New York that promoter James Cornelius was one of those who had assaulted him. "Bull," Cornelius said.
After he was released from the hospital, the associate said, King flew to New York. He was in his Manhattan apartment yesterday, but an aide said he was ''not available'' to talk.

This is bullshit.
Actually he went to hit up Ali for rights on that fight. He and a Jewish business man went into Ali's hotel room to talk. Shit got heated when Ali said he wanted his last fight and to be left alone.
One thing led to another and King 'touched' one of Ali's Muslim bodyguards and they beat the shit out of him. The Jewish cat with him was sparred.

This might sound sadistic and cruel but I bet a lot of people are mad they didn't finish the job.

That's right, and King did his time.

I`m sure King deserved what he got at that time. He has gotten away with more than he got punished for in his life

You can see James Cornelius do some speechmaking on the press conference portion of the Last Hurrah DVD.

That's fine. Ali's the better human being.
Don King continues to fuck grown men with no vaseline and no reach-around.

As odd as it may be for a boxing fanatic, I'm not a fan of needless violence.
HOWEVER, if anyone deserved a good old fashioned beat down, it was King.
I had heard the parameters of this story before, but didn't know the details. Reading about how the Nation of Islam handled certain things in the past, I can see the scenario of King pushing one of the bodyguards too far. LOL.
I've always been surprised that some fighter didn't Rick Parker him at some point for screwing them out of money. (Am I right on the Rick Parker name? The promoter that journeyman Heavyweight Tim "Doc" Anderson killed in the mid 1990's).

I had heard that Tyson beat the shit out of DK in his limo, in the mid 90's. Any truth to that?

I was being sarcastic. But Ali is a douche regardless who is a better American, better black man, better human, better whatever, I believe that. King and Ali deserved each other. Two sellouts making millions together.

That's pretty much the perspective that I'm coming from. Ali did and said some fucked up shit in his time, but he seems to have come to terms with asking for forgiveness. Don King still acts like he never did anything wrong, and keeps doing it.
As for the "better American" crap, that shit's a joke.
