Filippo was a fighter, judge and referee.
He was 23-9-3 as a pro, which included fights with Lauro Salas and Carlos Ortiz.
He refereed numerous world title fights and appeared as a referee in four Rocky movies.
He was one of the judges for the Hagler-Leonard fight. He scored the fight 115-113 for Hagler.

I liked how in the Legendary Nights: Tale of Hagler-Leonard they were able to get all the judges [minus Guerra who scored it 118-110 (joke score)] to discuss why they scored for a certain fighter. Filippo was very intelligent in his reasoning for scoring the fight the way he did and I can't remember a score of his that I thought was a sign of ineptitude or corruption. We lost a great judge, one of that was out there.
