Full Version: Freddie Roach puts Edwin Valero at number 4, could be #1 in 2010

Freddie Roach was quoted as saying that he ranks Manny Pacquiao as the number one pound for pound fighter in the world. That came as no surprise after the monumental assault that Pacquiao put on boxing during the last two years.

The surprise was in the fact that Roach put Edwin Valero at number four. Roach's reasoning was that Valero had a 25 and 0 record with 25 knockouts. But Freddie rates fighters that he sees as talented. One would have to believe that somewhere along the line he has seen that Valero may indeed be special.

I understand that most feel Valero sucks these days, but I just have a gut feeling that he's the goods.

Yeah all those knockouts are overrated lol.gif

Roach is just thinking ahead if Pac beats Cotto..and the Mayweather fight is not sign..the most obvious fight for Pac is vs. Valero...so it will be a good thing to over hype him a bit.

AND

if Pac beats Cotto and fight Mayweather....he will must likely lose...and have 1 or 2 more fight an retire...Roach would need someone exciting and good to train....and that will be Valero...

doesn't Roach also say Khan is top 10 P4P.... rolleyes.gif

He can punch and nothing more, Lamar Clark knocked out 44 straight stiffs and he sucked balls. Roach calling Valero p4p #4 just tells me Pac/Valero in Manilla for Manny's next conquest.

can this dude be banned? he just spams his shitty articles.

I would love to see Valero fight a live body. He obviously has the punch just not sure about his skills. I think he has the skills but he just relies on his power too much. The best thing for him right now is to have a Freddy Roach in his corner to refine his skills.

Valero gets talked about more than he deserves IMO. I heard his mom and sister didn't even buckle when he hit them, that just goes to show his quality of opp is unreliable.
PWillIsGod
Pac will destroy him faster than Tyson stopped Spinks. He wouldn't land a punch.

yeah has pushed Linares, Morales, DLH and Barrera around in sparring. the jury is still definately out but has hasnt done anything to elude to him being a bust just yet.
SpitBucket

I think Valero is compelling, but Pac would walk right through that ass if that fight happened today.

Whatever he might have done in sparring, he wouldn't have done anything to them in a fight.

who knows but all hate and critisism just seems to be a backlash to his early hype.

Good for them, I think he sucks. If he ever fights somebody with a pulse we will find out. Mosquera wasn't bad, I'll give him that one from years ago.
