There are theories. The shot has probably killed or made life worse for about as many people as the actual flu has.

Regardless of why it's being treated like a global emergency (when it clearly shouldn't be) I wonder to myself why people will willingly go and take a shot that they know nothing about.

If there's an off-chance that I'm (or my kids) are going to develop a condition that they're going to lose control of their motor functions, I'm not taking that chance. Not for some stupid flu that they have gotten over in a less than a week.

Another thing, I have close friends and some family in the medical field and the majority (if not all, I didn't poll them) are not advising anyone to take the shot. Every time I hear recommendations to take the shot it's from the news or another source. Never seems to be anything from actual physicians.

The claim now is that it spreads more rapidly than the normal flu. Most of that can be negated by washing your hands and sneezing into your arm.
