That was the only Mayweather interview I've ever enjoyed.
Why doesn't Floyd ever just say... "I want to fight ____"
?
He's always talking about how the money has to be right, but the thing is, to get the biggest money out there he has to fight the two guys fans want to see him in there with- Shane and Manny.
He always comes up with reasons why he shouldn't or doesn't have to get in there with them so... why even be a fighter?
Lame.

that interview was hysterical. RA tore Floyd's ass apart from beginning to end

he did say he wanted to fight cotto but i guess at this point (post margarito) its irrelevant....
i knew all along floyd wanted cotto's ass... if cotto beat margarito .. cotto would have went on to fight oscar and abuse him..
then floyd vs cotto would have probably went down in yankee stadium during the summer . maybe vegas

He would love to fight Cotto after a loss to Pac. I would rather see him and Shane then him and Pac though.

nah its inevitable that the winner of pac vs cotto does not face off against floyd.. unless arum stands in the way
i think floyd just always wanted that next big fight to be a mega fight.. thats why he waited for cotto to beat margarito & odlh
probably would have fought margarito if margarito had gotten by shane as well....
i dont think floyd is scared but i think he will only fight when its worth his while

I hear you, I just think he would rather retire before taking on Margarito with a full head of steam.
Cool interview by the way. Floyd is one of those classic shit talkers that only has one or two things to hang his hat on and continually repeats it. It's annoying as shit.

If I remember correctly, his reasoning for fighting Baldo instead was making 8 mill (like was offered to face Marg) but without having to deal with Arum. 12 mill was never thrown around as the figure he made for that fight. As to 8 for Mitchell, that just sounds like bull.

floyd is like boxing's version of a jay z or eminem.. u have 2 great lyricists with a potential to be even greater that have blank checks for a recording budget. I'm still laughing about that one. Floyd played every card he had and the Rugged Man trumped every one of them.
I beat Judah, NYC's best - big deal, he lost to Baldo who sucks
I just beat #2 P4P - big deal, he came up 17 lbs and is old and slow
I am the greatest of all time - no you ain't!
There are 40 more of those and if you haven't heard the interview yet, you should, it is worth it.

Probably a TON of them. I found funny his mocking Hopkins for losing to Calzaghe...when just last year he cited Cal as one of the fighters he liked to watch.

the funny thing was when he mentioned all the fighters that retired undefeated and none of them mean that much to boxing. Ali lost fights and still considered a all time great. Floyd thinks if he goes undefeated against bums that he gonna get a pass for being great.

OK, I listened to this for the fourth time. This shit speaks volumes and I want the Floyd suckers to respond to what he said...
This is Floyd Mayweather talking. Not me.
Floyd (some paraphrasing but in context) said
"I don't care" after RA asks if he cared about his legacy when he is gone. Now I know when you're dead you're dead but he also said...
"Legacy don't pay the bills."
Floyd does not care about any parts of the history (as RA schooled him on) but then he rebutts himself and says
"I'm the greatest that ever lived."
Really? He can't care enough about history yet KNOWS he's the best without knowing it (history)? He talks about fighters being ko'd like Sugar Ray Robinson or even Leonard as "people who put themselves in that position." 35 fights and Archie Moore to him is a sucker for having 135 KO's. This is Floyd Mayweather talking. Not me.
He talks about Williams losing like Paul is a bitch and yet calls out Hatton in this interview. This is Floyd Mayweather talking. Not me. Didn't Hatton lose twice recently?
The man says he has a boss and can't pick who he fights yet he decides who he fights and is a great businessman. This is Floyd Mayweather talking. Not me.
This was an amazing display of bullshit. He did get rushed during the interview right off the bat but it went on for 20 minutes and he got more and more rattled. He never (other than RA saying that Shane had lost in 99) did say anything right or honest.

Floyd still has plenty of time to prove the naysayers wrong. Think about it, there aren't anymore washed up DLH's and Baldomirs in the game. Floyd is sorta edged into taking on the best from here on out. Hatton isn't going to fight him since he's on his way out and most likely wants one last win against a guy he can beat. In order for Floyd to get the biggest money possible he'll have to take on a high risk fight against the following:
Mosley
Cotto
Pac
PWill
For his next fight he'll most likely choose the smallest man, Pac. If Pac destroys Cotto, which I think he will, he can be seen as a legit "welterweight killer." In that sense, he would be on same level as Floyd (size disparity would become a non issue). If Floyd beats Pac I would have no problem giving him full credit for defeating an amazing fighter.
I don't necessarily take anything away from Floyd for beating up a smaller man in Marquez. Like every other fighter Floyd is entitled to a tune up fight after a long layoff. For a comeback fight I'd rather see him fight a smaller great man than a natural welterweight with avg or below avg skills. Now if Floyd proceeds to fight a name not on the list above then I'll start shitting on him. Until then I'll reserve judgment but keeping him on a short leash.

It was based off the earlier quote from Floyd that Marquez beat up Pac. It was at 130. That's where that number came into play since it was a "welterweight" fight.

Hell, he needs to get hyped off this and take over the role of Jim Grey -- he's equally as cocky (confident?), but he actually sticks to boxing and isn't a douchebag.
