Cuevas was a feared puncher with an iron chin. Ike had that great lefthand and was physically imposing.
I think this would be a fight of the year because they could both be found.
Cuevas by late stoppage. He`d break through with is power and pressure eventually. He would take alot of punishment on the way though.

Ike could tire late in fights and his head movement...well, he didn't have any. Cuevas would have trouble with the jab but that hook is going to land.

It's an interesting fight, & one I haven't seen before. I'm thinking Cuevas maybe secures it with a late knockdown in a close fight. He'd run into trouble with Quartey's jab, & I wouldn't be shocked if Cuevas lost narrowly on points.

im not even sure cuevas gets past that jab.....but if he catches quartey with one of those left hooks it could be lights out for bazooka.....

This might look like Lopez/Quartey somewhat.

Quartey was robbed in that fight.

Bingo.
Lopez was actually a shorter puncher than Cuevas, which makes it interesting. Would his wide shots be easier to see and counter or would they fuck with Ike's timing?
Another tough call.
I'll go with the guy I think will be more consistent. Gimme Bazooka by close decision where he has to survive a few scary moments.

I agree with Cuevas by stoppage. Bazooka would give him hell, though.

I'd probably take Cuevas by stoppage. He gets a bum rap for having a bad chin, but he wasn't prone to getting stopped until late in his career, and getting KO'd by Hearns isn't necessarily a knock on your chin. It certainly wasn't the best, but it wasn't crap.
As for Ike, he could be pretty inconsistent and wasn't a huge puncher. Sooner or later I think they'd trade hooks, and Cuevas would win that battle by quite a bit.

My guess would be that that Cuevas would put Quartey down way more often than vice versa. So yeah, Cuevas by late, late stoppage.

I like it. I think Ike comes off the floor for a decision win.

Ike by decision, with some hariy moments. Ike had some heavy hands too, so it wouldn't be inconceivable for him to hurt Cuevas also.

True.
Except Lopez didnt let his hands go enough. He had heavy hands but was a statue for long pockets of time.
