Why is it only HBO shows the unofficial weigh-in,corrrect me if I'm wrong. And am I the only one who thinks they do it to speculate on future match-ups like Cotto fighting at 140,coming in at 154?

HBO's are completely voluntary. Guys have refused to do it in the past. I know Gatti has done it.

Maybe Showtime just doesn't ask.

I have no idea though.

I really like the unofficial weigh-ins personally. I wish they were mandatory for every fight, they're the best part of the 'Tale of the Tape' whenever they're included.

I think they feel it's a more accurate tale of the tape. Especially when the bell rings, since the weight the fighters are actually fighting at.

Why others don't do it? I'm not sure. Maybe HBO's clout allows them to?

Feeling ya,HBO does have clout, but when a fighter like Mayweather comes in right at weight on fight night, and J Taylor comes in at light heavy,it tells who should be at what weight to me.

I think its cool that they have those unofficial weigh ins

I dont mind knowing how much each fighter weighs at the time of the fight

Its one of those small things which makes it more interesting. It can reveal alot too, like when Cotto stepped through the ropes at 150 something while Corley was only about 138.
