Seeing as we've got a new board again (I guess???), I've turned over a new leaf in metal and have downloaded a few dozen (or possibly 100 or more) albums in the past 2 weeks or so, varying by genre. Most I've enjoyed very much, especially the "brutal death," "technical death" and "deathcore" stuff I've found. It's nothing new and it'd certainly not like I've "discovered" these bands, but they're new to me, or at least some albums, and not the bands, are, and I'm very happy with having expanded my metal horizons and gotten so much new music lately.

Bands:

Necrophagist
Vile
Cryptopsy
God Among Insects
Suffocation
Bury Your Dead
Into the Moat
The Arcacia Strain
All Shall Perish (GOOOOOOD SHIT)
Thine Eyes Bleed
Sleep Terror
Psycroptic (Newer album that I downloaded is great)
Spawn of Possession
Martyr
Gorguts
Cynic
Atheist
Kalmah
Green Carnation
Gojira
Swallow the Sun
Immolation
Enthroned
Incantation

:headbanger emoticon

Dead Faust
Good stuff, Teg. I'm a fan of quite of a few of those bands.

I've been in the mood for some raw and brutal stuff, so I went looking through my album collection. I found Ondskapt's latest work, and holy shit does this album dominate. Parts of this album are as good as black metal gets, and the rest of it is pretty damn good too.

Also been listening to North, Deathspell Omega, Abigor, Myrkskog, Mournful Congregation, Naglfar, and the mighty Amorphis.

Basically a bunch of absolutely murderous black metal with some old school doom/death thrown in.
Integrital
And I highly recommend the new Through the Eyes of the Dead album.

This girl i know invited me to go see Cannibal Corpse w/ DYING FETUS, NECROPHAGIST AND UNMERCYFUL opening up for them..

Ever heard of them.. And do you think i will like it?
brotherNAMELESS
I hate Cannibal Corpse
Dead Faust
I don't like Cannibal Corpse either.

While I'm on the subject, I think 90% of American metal bands are absolute ass. Not just for the fact that they're American, America just doesn't put out good metal very often. It's a scientific fact.
CASPer
oh ok thanks for the info.. I guess i'll pass on the show. It's not like i was going to get some ass from her anyway.

Quoted for troof.

I'm into more metalcore and hardcore than you guys, so naturally I don't really care if bands are from The States or not. Metalcore and deathcore and all that stuff seems to be more american genres than anything else, and a lot of bands have been coming out of AZ and FL for some reason. CA has always been known for its hardcore/metal scene. Though I have been getting more into foreign bands, especially scandanavian.

Not a big fan of Cannibal Corpse. Some of the music is ok, but the vocals seriously make me laugh. Necrophagist is a band I found recently that I think is teh good, but otherwise skip that show Casp. Saw Cannibal Corpse a while back live and it wasn't all that good.

ive hyped these guys before, but the Agony Scene (Tulsa) and High on Fire (Bay Area) are both solid american metal bands.

Dead Faust
Big Fiasco is right, High on Fire dominates. Great band.

Fiasco, lemme upload a song for you from All Shall Peris. Being a fellow musician you should at least be able to appreciate the shredding this guy does, though I'd understand if you don't like the song. I bet you will though. You seem to dig beats a lot like I do, which is a big reason why I dig hardcore, metalcore, deathcore, death, brutal death, etc. - the breakdowns and beats.

Gimme a few.

Yeah, Amorphis is great smile.gif Not only because it's Finnish tongue.gif

If you haven't heard any of these, try them out:

Thyrane - Finnish black metal
Amon Amarth - Nordic death metal (a bit melodic maybe)
Children of Bodom - Finnish death metal (melodic), a band that started bringing back guitar solos into metal
Arch Enemy - Swedish death metal band with a woman as their vocalist.
She fucking rules and can rip it like she was a man tongue.gif
Entombed - Swedish death metal
In Flames - Swedish death metal (melodic)
Diablo - Finnish melodic death

All of these are pretty well known bands so I wouldn't be surprised if you knew them all already.
Worth a try I guess. If you really want to bang your head, why not listen to grindcore? smile.gif

Good stuff. Don't know Thyrane but I know and enjoy the rest. In Flames is good shit...Lunar Strain and The Jester Race are great albums, and they kick ass live. Fate of Norns is a good album, Children of Bodom are pretty kickass, Entombed is pretty cool. Not much of an Arch Enemy fan though.

Dead Faust
Left Hand Path and Clandestine from Entombed are essential listening, in my opinion.
Ilian
ppl download or go get the new amon amarth album called with oden on our side its bad ass these guys shred their guitars ------> pretend there a headbanger emoticon tongue.gif

No worries. I can't sleep for shit so I'm up listening to metal and I was putting a bunch of pr0n links in the new ass forum to spice it up a bit.

Any other bands on the above list that you've never heard or need albums from?

Dead Faust
Pathetically, I'm pretty sure I have some stuff from the rest of the bands. My collection is vast and unorginized, I even have duplicates of lots of stuff. If I ever figure out an easy way, I'll post an album list or something. When Metal Torrents was alive, I hit it pretty hard and leeched just about everything except for the stuff I already knew was gay.

I was curious about All Shall Perish, I'm gonna give that a good listen.
BigFiasco
does anyone know what tuning Lamb of God uses. Ive read in multiple places its Drop D, but damn the shits so heavy I could of swore it would be drop C?
shrubbery
Yeah, I've listened through the new Amon Amarth album a couple of times and I can say that it's great!
I think I have a Kalmah album somewhere on my HDD, maybe I ought to have a listen.

I downloaded the All Shall Perish album and will have a listen when I get the chance. Any idea on what the quality is? Or if it's ripped by a group.

If you haven't heard Thyrane yet, I suggest you download their album called Travesty Of Heavenly Essence (2005). It's great IMO.

Another Finnish death metal band I think you would maybe like is Mors Principium Est. Check out their album called Unborn. If only I could upload both of them somewhere for easier access...

BTW, looking at your list - Green Carnation is great. I really like Porcupine Tree and Opeth too.

Integrital
Darkest Hour is fuckin great. August Burns Red is right up my alley and BTBAM is pretty fuckin cool.

I'm guessing that All Shall Perish is a bit too metalcore-ish for ya Faust?

Dead Faust
Haven't given it a thorough listen yet, sounds good so far though.
Luca Brasi
Anybody have any Red Chord that they feel like uploading? biggrin.gif

Oh also, I'm looking for the new Amon Amarth album "With Odeon On Our Side".

Thx

I don't have any CM stuff. Faust may though.

Luca:

I just started the upload, it should be done in a little bit, but I have work at 3:45. I'll post the link when I get home though.

Oh yeah, and I have I think two Red Chord albums. I'll get to those when I get home also.

Thanks Inty!

Quick question though. I opened the Amon album in iTunes, and each song came up as being ridiculously long (like 45 minutes long). In the past I've had songs with that length, but really aren't the actual length of the song.

Do you get that in your media player?
