u'll find if u play in the lower limits, u'll get bad beats after bad beats. i think all online pokers are geared that way to create action and more rake for the site.
thats the reason i dont play online anymore.

Lower limit online poker is a whole different animal. It is possible to make money. You just have to adjust your game a little bit. You actually have to play a simpler game than you usually would. Bluffing is often wasted in these games because a lot of players will call down with average hands. You will make money in the long run if you raise with premium hands and build the pot when you believe you have the best hand post flop. Sure you will get some bad beats but you will make money in the long run. I can survive the occasional bad beat if I am in a table full of people calling down with shitty hands.

I thought this stuff was unplayable in the united states? I used to play on party poker about 4 years ago, but not anymore.
Anybody have difficulties taking money out of your account to put in your bank after you win?

They just made it more difficult to get your money out. Now you usually have to have them mail you a check instead of just transferring it to your account.

Thought I'd revive this old warhorse.
I've started playing again after 2+ years. I'm doing ok, mainly breaking even right now but taking a minor profit after rakeback. I play at Ultimate Bet right now, as Full Tilt and Pokerstars were starting to accrue more solid players at low limits.
I'm trying to learn heads up, since 6-seat sit n' gos are my favorite game and I need to pull more victories once I go heads up to increase profits. I've clocked about 50 games of turbo heads up at 10+.50 over the last week, and I'm starting to get a better sense of strategy and how to control the board.
Anyone here play on Ultimate Bet? If so, we should play a few matches.

How are you guys deposting money into your poker account? I used to use netteller. But due to pressure from Vegas and Indian casinos, some law went into effect and CC companies stopped allowing transactions from anything remotely related to online gambling.

Yeah, I just use a straight credit card now; if the site won't accept it, I use EWalletExpress. (I haven't had any problems depositing or withdrawing money).

Thats where I mainly play. Normally 10 seat SNGs. Its been awhile. Its smart of you to practice heads up. Ive came in 2nd 2x in decent sized tourneys and would benifit from having better heads up skills.
Always checkout different tables and different sites. There is money to be made easily if you look hard enough, ie. if I find a low money cash game with hifg flop %, thats usually a winner, you just have to find them. I'll holla

I joined Full Tilt last night. I play without real money and the shit is fun most of the time. Every once in awhile some dickhead comes in raising right off the bat knowing (and we do too) he has a 5 - 2 off suit bullshit hand and that kind of fucks up the groove.

Yeah...that's why I never play for "free". It's not even useful as practice. It's like sparring with pillows instead of gloves. It will just make you worse.

I disagree. I think it teaches you patience, which is extremely useful in poker. Obviously it's only to a certain extent, because when motherfuckers start auto-betting every hand no matter what they have, I leave the table.
We play on Pokerstars though, and they're known for a lot of idiots on there. I don't mess around when I'm playing cash games though. I try to play odds more than my gut, because it's tough when you're doing it online and can't see their face or body language.

Did i ever tell yall the time i was spotted at Commerce Casino at the 40 no limit by another maxboarder (Loboman...i think)? They (Loboman and some other dude) were talkin about boxing and i interviened and the guy said i was pugilist86 from maxboxing and i fuckin flipped out. He said he recognized me because of my hair. Not my proudest moment but still very amusing.
Back to poker, 1-2 blinds for 40 dollar buy in is whack. I'm pretty much sittin on my chips till i catch something real big and half the time, the chump who gots money to throw away will call my aces with 10 9 and catch 8-7-6 on the flop. 100 is a lil bit better because i can play a lil more deep stacked but still have donkeys that will call me down the river just to chase a gut shot.
I prefer tournament. roomates used to host cash game at my crib (usually 20 dollar buy in) and we place top 3. We could get about 12-15 peeps on a good night and with re-buys, even better.
Now Omaha is a fun game. Don't know how to play Hi-low that well yet but High is fun. You learn to fold trips and straights in this game.

That is too small of a buy in for 1-2. You will often run out of time waiting for a premium hand with only 20 big blinds and the really deep stacks can take chances calling you with suited connectors or small pairs because most of their stack won't be at risk playing against your stack.

Considering the amount of cards on the table and the percentage of cards you can't see? I'd say not really.

Used to play on pokerstars quite a bit in small buy-in type stuff. Wouldn't take me too long to bring in a hundred or so, every now and then. Like others have said though, at low level type stuff online it really pays of to play tighter. I love Omaha, but didn't really pick it up until the last couple weeks of me playing there. Then my computer blew up and I haven't even checked my account since then.

utg raises to $8. i wake up with JJ. i re-raise to $25. another player calls and initial raiser calls. pot is $78.
flop 10-6-3 rainbow. utg checks. i move all-in for $60. other player folds and initial raiser calls with AK os. dumbass hits a K on the river. good call moron, he was 4.5-1 dog and getting just almost 2-1 on his money.

I don't do well in cash games for this reason: I'm pretty aggressive when I know I'm ahead. I think the only way to beat low-limit cash games is to be very conservative, taking small pots for your big hands, but not being afraid to drop out with top pair (even if it means occasionally being bluffed out).
In any case, people are much more predictable in sit n' goes when their tournament life is on the line.
Edit: And I was surprised to find that we have a shark on this site. I figured Dynamic Hispanic's bragging was hyperbole, but when i looked him up on Sharkscope, he's quite a stunning sit n' go player ROI-wise.

Deposited $100 on BoDog mainly because of a nice bonus and to bet boxing and try and build it.
1st of 14 left in the first tournament I registered for, 1st is only $300 but whatever I win I am probably betting on Paul Williams this weekend.
This is perhaps the easiest I have navigated through a tournament ever. I only need first-level thinking (What does he think I have?) to do well.

Just saw this, thanks for the compliment.
11 people left and it is so easy to steal blinds it is ridiculous. People are running down their time bank just trying to make the final table even though if they get there they will have 2-4 big blinds and little chance of pulling in first which is where most of the money is.

The last 4 times I had AA OOP, I've lost a huge pot with it. (I lost with it twice to the same guy who flopped a flush and boat on me.)Luckily I make up with it with blind steals and c-betting flops in which I opened with a raise. It's amazing how often people fold to the c-bet in the micros.

I feel your pain. I try not to disparage these retards though. It's pretty lame when people do that, even after bad beats. After all, they put their money in. And odds are you'll make more money off them in the long term as long as you're not a retard yourself.

Edit: 6/8 now pretty card dead and I'm in a bad spot for blind stealing. Guaranteed $300.
8th for $308 when my 88 loses to A2 flop 345 he flops straight haha. Such a joke. Anytime I get to final table I get jobbed like that.

I can never understand why people get pissed off at stuff like this. It's poker, shit happens. When you play a guy like this who makes the wrong call, who gives a crap if he gets lucky on the river? In the long run, these are EXACTLY the type of players who will pay you off. If you're gonna live off people like this, taking their money, don't be a whiny bitch when they get lucky. Just know in the long run you'll get your money back. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
