Me either, but after that performance I wish they had a chance to play in one. I wouldn't have had Alabama in it. But they were a very good team.
If the national title is split. It will be bacause Texas & Oklahoma win. Even though the Sooners are going to get worked.

I saw another article recently about how ridiculous these bowl games are (sorry can't find it at the moment)....they're basically cash grabs for the schools/conferences. A playoff would have to involve the NCAA, which would mean more ways to split the $. So I'm not expecting a playoff anytime soon.
But imagine
1 Oklahoma vs 8 V Tech
4 Bama vs 5 USC
3 Texas vs 6 Penn St
2 Florida vs 7 Cincy
that's if you're using all 6 BCS conf champions. replace V Tech with Texas Tech or Ohio St and replace Cincy with Utah and I'm busting nuts left and right.

Replace Bama with Utah. Texas Tech doesn't belong in this company. I think it would be very important to limit it to conference champions. With one exception and that nod would go to Texas this year.

There's no reason not to condone it. Alabama was rated 1 for weeks and almost hung on versus Florida. prior to the Florida game, Utah's SOS > than Bama. Utah beat Bama worse than Florida by a bit. Add in solid road wins, real scheduling, and a tough conference and the only obstacle would be 'But it's Utah' which is why college football remains a spectacle rather than real contest every year at the end.
Of course, OSU could beat texas tonight and make the Big 12 look overrated and further prove how stupid this system is. The old career honorariam style of awarding nats made more sense then this crap.

way i see it, Bama was seriously let down by missing out on the national title game and took Utah really lightly. If after this round of BCS games Florida or USC was to play Utah i think they would handily beat them.

That's just the way it is. I can't put Utah ahead of the Florida/Oklahoma winner. They didn't play a stronger schedule than either of those teams and I don't think they played a better one than Bama either. But they proved they were better than Alabama where it counts.
For a nonBCS school to get into the big one they would have to be ranked high preseason like BYU was this year.

Jan 5 2009, 03:11 PM
So if mid-majors continue at the clip they have now, winning 3 of 4 BCS bowls, how long will it take for the let down argument to cease. They manhandled Bama on D, were flat out a faster team...if any major conference team had done what Utah did this year, they play on Thursday right? Most seasons end with people saying some 1 or 2 loss team was really the best at the end. This year only one team ends with an "0." Like I said, hope the AP does the right thing.
And Mark, how can you say Utah definitely didn't play a tougher schedule? When the final ratings come out, Utah will have more wins against the final top 25 and an almost certain top ten TCU team.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. They went undefeated and beat a top team convincingly in their bowl game. I think texas may lose to tonight. Then when Florida beats Oklahoma. That would strengthen Utah's case.
But I'll bet they are behind the beloved Trojans anyway.

Behind USC would just be a kick in the nuts. I think USC would beat anyone right now by at least ten, but losses either count in mythical land or they don't and losing to an OState team who Utah beat should make it clear cut.

I wonder what SeenNotHeard is going to say when the overrated Tressel takes a team from the garbage Big 10 that doesn't even belong in the BCS and beats the mighty Longhorns? Even if Texas barely wins that can't be a good sign.
Haven't heard from him about Oregon destroying Oklahoma St or the Mississippi team that he shit all over blowing out Texas tech.
Fun times for me.

They are still going to have trouble with Pryor. Texas may win. But Ohio St certainly looks like they belong. Of course that clown wants the BCS to be 8 Big 12 teams. OHio St, Penn St, Cincinatti & Virginia Tech all suck. Texas Tech was robbed of a BCS berth, yet Mississippi sucks.

I don't know about the inner workings man, just how the man presents himself when I watch on TV or here him talk and he doesn't come off fake and how he "appears" to coach his players. I'm no expert. I will say thought that to survive in a big school program probably everyone has to sell their soul to some degree.

You cant?!
-They beat a 1 loss Alabama that was a SERIOUS #1/#2 national title contender...
-They beat an Oregon State team that was the ONLY team to beat a one loss top 5 USC...
-They beat a top 10 TCU team that just beat only-other-undefeated-season Boise St tean and only lost to Oklahoma and Utah this season...
-They beat a BYU team that opened the preseason ranked AP #16 and ended the season ranked BCS #16...
-They sent a major Michigan program into a chaotic tailspin by handing them a season opening loss...
-They went undefeated...
That is a resume that would give ANYONE atleast a piece of the national title IMO...

Nah, Shipley. He got a first down darting the the sidelines where you could hear him pumping his breatyh with each step, struggling to get those extra couple yards, and popping up right after being hit. Then the next play he catches the bowl in the middle of open territory only to fall when he tries to make a cut on a defender in the distance. Was fun to watch. And the man still got 2 first downs

Just seemed like a real weird time to do it. I'd like the running threat there myself. The defense is wearing down now. McCoy is a great QB. Not a lot you can do to stop him anymore than they have. You're not going to beat that offense with 9 pts.
