Both of these guys were great heavyweights. Both had pretty short primes. Bowe`s was much shorter than Frazier`s because of lack of disipline.

Everybody knows what these boxers brought to the table.

Who wins in a head to head matchup.

I like Bowe by knockout inside 5-6 rounds. I think he was built to deal with a guy like Fraizer almost more than Foreman was. Though George was more aggressive.

I do think Joe has his moments here and he would shake Bowe after a couple of rounds of warming up. But Riddick brings too much, size, skills and power.

For a guy with Frazier in his sig, you must some kind of love/hate thing going on to want him in with Bowe. One of the worst style matchups I can think of for Smokin Joe. Bowe KO3.

It couldnt be any worse than what Foreman did to him. Frazier would probably get off more of his own power because Riddick, though more polished wasnt the aggressive ring terror than Big George was in those days. Nobody was other than maybe Liston.

Speakin' of Liston.....Frazier/Liston would be absolute apocalyptic-style warfare.

More importantly, whose corner would Eddie Futch choose to work in?

Frazier`s because he was 1,000,000 times more disciplined than Bowe.

I just don't see it
an early night for Riddick?
Anything is possible
but I ain't buying it.
Bowe was pretty good with Impersonations
but I'm pretty sure a young George Foreman isn't in his repertoire

I'd take Bowe by convincing decision. Overhand right to Frazier's head and neck all night. He really had a good, quick stick too.

Bowe started slow sometimes, and that would hurt him a bit against Frazier. BUT, Bowe also had a pretty solid chin, plus he was just bigger, stronger, a good puncher and a good in-fighter.

IMO Joe's best shot would be to land something HUGE early on and try to finish it. If it went past a few rounds, Bowe would probably win a decision.

I think its a solid mid/late rounds win by Frazier. The only times I ever saw Bowe look dominant on the inside was against Holyfield, he just seemed to have his number. Many other fighters got in his ass. Hell, Buster Mathis Jr. showed what a short guy could do on the inside against Bowe.

Bowe never had his body worked hard. He also tended to knock people by an accumulation of punches. I see him landing plenty but also seem him catching just as much. Despite the size difference, when these two guys fight at close range I also see Joe with a substantial power advantage.

This would not look anything like Bowe-Holyfield when they were inside. Joe would match or exceed Bowe's workrate, Evander never came close to doing that in any of the 3 fights.

Bowe couldn't afford to rumble on the in too much against Joe, that's for sure. He'd have to mix in a dash of Lennox Lewis. In 15 I could see Joe coming on and hurting him bad. I could also see Frazier landing a big one if Bowe hung on the inside too much.

If he fought a smart fight he could beat Joe over 12. Don't see a stoppage though. Joe is too tough.

Riddick Bowe poses serious matchup problems for Joe Frazier. Bowe stood 6'5 inches tall and weighed 250 lbs. As opposed to Frazier who stood 5'11 inches tall and weighed approximately 200 lbs. I believe that the size differential here would be just a bit too much for Joe Frazier to overcome. I may be wrong here, but I just don't see how Joe's left hook can play a major factor in this bout, given Riddick Bowe's overall physical ability and workrate.

I agree with most of that except that Riddick was probably in top shape at about 235lbs and Frazier was closer to 205 to 210lbs in top condition. Bowe had a clean 5 inches in height. Bowe had a good 20 25lbs on Joe.

Yes, I agree. Unless Bowe was hurt, he was a never a fighter to back up or give angles and circle. This would spell trouble for Joe; Because in addition to the size differential here, Riddick was just as much of a swarming infighter as Frazier and very good at it too. Those two would probably meet in the center of the ring, where Bowe would be able to utilize his size and power advantages over Frazier.

People are right to mention that Riddick came at you & had size and strength on Frazier. This usually spells problems for Joe. At to this the fact that he had a crushing uppercut and on the surface this seems to be a lock for Bowe.

That said there is a n X factor here. Riddick has NEVER since Lewis faced someone who hit like Frazier. While big and strong he is no Foreman and I think Frazier could push him enough to do damage.

In Riddick's so called prime where did his rep for chin come from? Taking shots from Golota and Evander? He had a good chin but I guaruntee if Holy could hold his ground against Riddick with his average pop. Frazier could hold his ground and more. Add Riddick's willingness to brawl and this fight could be a barnburner.
