Additional details have been released for the July 16 heavyweight crossroads rematch between former heavyweight champions Hasim Rahman and James Toney. The bout, billed as "Last Chance," will be for the NABO heavyweight belt and be televised live on FSN's "Best Damn Sports Show Period" from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. The event, which is presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions, Don King Productions and in association with Top Rank, will be officially announced on Thursday in Los Angeles. Toney and Rahman previously faced each other in March 2006, fighting for then-champion Rahman's WBC heavyweight title. The fight ended in a controversial draw.
I hadn't even heard anything about this fight coming off in the first place.
Personally I had Rahman winning the first fight by about 8-4 or 7-5-1 because Rahman actually jabbed the shit outta Toney and actually out-fought him on the inside (even if it was mostly rabbit punches and crappy bodyshots). And I'm not really sure why Toney would be taking this fight at this point.
Really though, this is a tough fight to call for me. Rahman is one of those guys who looks better than he should when we don't expect him to, yet falls far short when we expect him to win. And Toney??? What the hell is he gonna do this time? Clinch and try to catch Rahman coming in, which didn't even work well the first time?
Either way I might just be there to see Toney fight in person for the first (and probably last) time.

Any chance this fight breaks the record for heaviest combined weight?

Don't waste your time seeing Toney. I saw Toney in person against Batchelder, he looked like total ass and was booed by the fans worse than any fight I have ever seen.

I can't believe Inty wasted all that time and energy analyzing this fight.
James Toney is shotter than shot. Rahman sucks pretty bad right now, but no way he loses this. Why? He has a jab. Toney can't counter a long jab.

I actually don't think either fighter will come in at a career high, even Toney. I except Rahman in the 235-240 range and Toney somewhere around 230.
Toney is so fucking shot it hurts, Rahman isn't too far behind but as someone already mentioned holme boy still has the jab to work behind in addition to naturally being the bigger man. Toney and Rahman clinch and dance their way to a very boring UD victory for Rahman, the winner of this match doesn't get very far in the HW division.

this fight is interesting, but very meaningless. I actually think the loser will make out better than the winner. The loser will have to retire, the winner will get some tv fight out of it and possibly a title shot for one of the many straps. So that means the winner gets one more beat down. The loser, in the end will end their career taking less punches, so then the loser is really the winner. ya dig

The only thing Toney should be fighting is diabetes.
Toney should do product endorsements. The commercials could unintentionally be the funniest of all time.
"Hi, im James Toney, and im here to tell you about the fabluos deals happenin down here at Nude eal used cars."
"Tha fuck you mean i said Nude eal? Bish i know wha the fuck i jus said, i said 'Hi bitch ni@@a this is James muthafucking Toney'.........fuck you mean were still on the air? Man fuck this shit im outta here mumble mumble mumble"

Pechanga is great for fights. Get there early and go to the steakhouse. Afterwards play video poker or blackjack. Craps suck there becuase they use cards instead of dice. Once, like an idiot, I drove home from there after drinking at a Nonito Donaire fight, I wouldve missed my ride to EM/Pac 2 if I didnt drive home, so I risked it. I may be there as well, Goosen-Tudor usually puts on good shows.

no Freddie is not on board. It was a thing where James felt Freddie couldnt focus on James and Freddie doesnt want James to fight so they parted ways
and James isnt at 250 right now.....more like......235. The suit he wore for the first Rahman fight is the same one he wore today for the presser and its noticably bigger on him. He looks slim and like he is taking his conditioning serious.
video will be up later

well thats a plus. This fight might be worth it just to hear Toney thank "behchanng" (pechanga) in the pressers
