The only division they both fought at was 130 and I think its fair to say based on what we saw from both guys at that weight class, Marquez takes it.
Nate is a much better and stronger fighter at 135 it seems, though I would have great confidence in Marquez' skills and toughness, though it its a very hard fight.
I don't get how 130 was the only division thy both fought at. They both fought at 135 too. This is too close to call. Nate could still punch at lightweight and he has skills too. JMM would have a harder time landing on him than he did on Diaz, and he'd be getting hit harder by Nate in return. I loves me some JMM, but I really am not all that confident that he can be as effective at 135 or higher as he was at 126 or 130. I think he was clearly a better fighter at those weight classes. He's had great success in 2 fights at 135, but he had shaky moments against Diaz, and his legs didn't look as good in either fight at 135 as they did at 126 or 130.
And to those analyzing this matchup based on Nate and JMM's respective results vs. Peden, all I have to say is HA!
This fight isn't as simple as JMM whupped Peden and Peden KO'd Nate.
I'd also add that the only reason Peden KO'd Nate, instead of the other way around, is that Nate got too cocky for his own good after hurting Peden bad to the body in their first fight. Had Nate simply finnished the job (which he easily could have done) there never would have been a Campbell-Peden II (which was not the world's greatest stoppage). Peden didn't beat Nate because he was a better fighter. He beat Nate because Nate did something that was stupid.
