‘Superman’ Calls Out Winner of Pavlik vs. Taylor or Calzaghe vs. Hopkins;

He’s Even Willing to Go Down to 156 Pounds to Face Oscar De La Hoya in May



PENSACOLA, Fla.—An ebullient Roy Jones Jr., energized by his dominating, unanimous-decision win over Felix “Tito” Trinidad at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, says he is ready to take on all comers in the light heavyweight or super middleweight divisions and beyond.



“I told you Roy Jones Jr. is back,” Jones said after his triumph over Trinidad where he twice sent the Puerto Rican legend to the canvas. “I’ll take the winner of either the re-match between Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor or Joe Calzaghe vs. Bernard Hopkins. I’m even willing to go down to 156 pounds to face Oscar De La Hoy in May. Line them up and I’ll knock them down.”



Jones (52-4, 38 KOs) surprised some longtime boxing scribes who didn’t believe he could still muster the skills that made him one of the best and most feared boxers in the history of the sport. Jones showed flashes against Trinidad on Saturday of his rare combination of speed and power that put him atop the lists of pound-for-pound best fighter in the world for a decade.



“I always said that with the right motivation and focus I can still be Superman. I saw it in the gym leading up to the fight and Tito Trinidad and everybody else saw it on Saturday night at the Garden. Like I said, line ‘em up and I’ll knock them down.”

Ya'll must have forgot. Didn't ya hear Roy say he's Superman? Superman can fly. When Roy gets on the scale, he'll just levitate a little until the scale says 156. Oscar better get a scale made out of kryptonite.

He weighed in at 169 for Trinidad, didn't he? He went the distance and it was an active fight so I don't think 168 is a stretch. But Hopkins, Calzaghe, Taylor and Pavlik are all natural middles or super-middles, not former welters. Big difference.

At 156, it would just be Roy's left bicep slinking into the ring like an amoeba.

i wouldnt put past roy jones jr about making the weight but...... DLH been working at maintaing his weight around the welter limit... Only way I see Oscar taking this fight is if RJJ agrees to take the low end of a 99-1 percent split.... meaning this will only happen on Playstation....

if people do not think he juiced now they are crazy. It was a big question when he went from 193 down to 175 and looking ripped as ever now the guy went all the way down to 169 1/2 after having not see that weight in a decade? now he says he can get to 156?

Didn't all this talk about De La Hoya stem from Oscar himself? I think I read somewhere that Oscar was interested in the fight.

I remember back in the day when Pernell was P4P king, Jones who was 160 at the time, called Pernell out. Roy shouldnt be taken seriously for calling De La Hoya out but I'd like to see him stick around at 168 for a minute.

Roy was already found positive in the past but it was sweep under the rug for some reason. I was a huge Roy fan and looking at how his biceps look abnormal, its pretty evident he is/was on something. The shit just don`t look natural.
