The last time I had a TV was about 4 1/2 years ago when I lived at my parent's place. They had a big screen with cable and HBO. But when I moved out at 18, I was broke and couldn't afford one. I had a computer with broadband so I didn't really need it. I still don't. I stream all my fights live and download or stream movies and shows that I want to watch. I hardly ever see commercials and I only watch things that I want and specifically search for. It's great. The only way it could be better is if I had a HUGE monitor.

So my girl moved in 6 months ago and of course, she fixed the place up something big. Now her and I about to start making more money so she mentioned that buying a flat screen TV might be cool. But of course then we'd have to get cable, and maybe even Tivo or some other brand of that.

I'm not convinced. I can't see myself sitting around and trying to find something I might want to watch. And waiting to watch something sucks. And I don't know if I could stand commercials anymore. I know all of you probably couldn't live with a TV but my generation is more computer obsessed and having gone over 4 years without one, I definitely don't need one.

Dude, I said I watch all my fights live, just on my computer rather than a tv. The same goes for any other sports. I can stream live soccer, NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL, whatever.

Actually animals do watch TV. One time me and my friend left the TV on at his house and when we came back later on his dog was watching animals fucking on National Geographic. The dog was watching pr0n!

Yeah, but the quality isn't the same, and it takes more work to flip back and forth between streams, than just changing channels. Granted, a stream is better than nothing, but it isn't as good.

True. The quality is not as good. But sometimes I catch streams that are really clear but it's not consistent.

I only have one TV, but mostly watch movies on it. No cable or satellite.

Of course, mi padre has satellite with HBO, Showtime, etc., so I just watch all the fights over there.

My TV died a year ago.

Ever since that I couldn't bring myself to buy a new one.Overall it made me a more happy person so I doubt I will buy a TV anytime soon.I read more, do even more sports and outdoor activities than before and I also study a lot more.I can't live without sports though so I always go to a friends house when the Bundesliga, NBA, NFL or boxing is on.

When Dobie met me, I didn't have a TV and didn't want one. I could afford it, no problem, but I preferred books. He ended up bringing one over to my apartment, so he could watch TV. I used it as a shelf. Never bothered to turn it on, unless he was there.

Lo and behold, some years later I don't think I could easily do without one. I fall asleep every night to either the Military channel or National Geographic; if I'm somewhere there is no TV in the bedroom, I have a hard time falling asleep. I also dream of one day having that 103" flat screen.

haven't had a tv since nov '04. definitely some shows I miss, but it's mostly a great thing. I got a dvd player and projector for movies. I can't fucking stand it when I go visit someone and they have to leave the tv on in the background all day long. commercials make me want to break things. fuck a cable bill!

Football on a monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night, Saturday (5 games), Sunday (4-5 games), I only go to 1-2 games a week, so I couldn't deal with it just for Football.

When it comes to tv shows I'm a dvd guy, so I wouldn't be so bad there, but Boxing is better on a big TV.
