I dont see what the big deal about that press release..he is basically saying that negotiations broke down and time ran out, and he will face the winner of Peter/Oleg..big deal

If anyone desreves a shot at the WBC belt it's Peter..when do you remember the WBC ever mandating a rematch because of a close fight? He obliged and str8 whooped Tony's ass the second-go-around and STILL almost didnt get Oleg because of the robot. So good for Peter and good for fans..I think Peter/Oleg will be a fun fight.

..I also believe Vitali deserves to face the winner. He retired as the WBC champ and is maybe the only fighter in the history of the sport to never trail in a fight..ever. He could probablly use a tune-up, but what the hell. Im happy to see the robot back. He made for fun fights and makes for more interesting matchmaking in the HW division.

They're complaining because the way he said it makes it seem like he's "allowing" it to happen, as if his retired ass had any sort of say-so in the matter. He's retired, which means he should not be ranked or in any sort of position to get a shot via the sanctioning orgs. Then again he has money, and that's about all it takes.

Secondly, what is this "never trail in a fight" thing? Was he not trailing against Lewis?

In Vitali's defence (not sure why I am defending him, he's one of the only fighters i dislike) the WBC did say when he retired that he could have an immediate title shot if he ever chose to unretire.

I don't think he was trailing against Lewis though. He took the first few rounds pretty clearly, but Lewis was going to fuck him up bad in the second half the fight.

I doubt Wlad has ever trailed in a fight...doubt Floyd has either.

Also, Vitali is gay (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon14.gif)

Wlad was definitely trailing in the Sanders fight and Floyd was definitely trailing in the Judah fight and maybe in a portion of the 1st Castillo fight. I remember some boxing writer breaking down Vitali and pointing out that he is the only fighter to retire without ever having been trailing in a fight..I looked into it as best I could, on BoxRec.com and it it very possible. The only 2 losses he had he was ahead at the time of stoppage.

Just relaying the info.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

..also has one of the best KO %'s of alltime 35 wins 34 by knockout. Thats always nice to see in the HW division..even if Im alone on this..welcome back to the Robot!!!
