We don't give a shit about our country. We look for individual athletes to focus all our attention on. Phelps was hugely popular 4 years ago. But he's stale now. We need a new person to step up and captivate the US masses. If we struggle in basketball, that will be the story of these Games.

Gotta say...i think you guys in the USA are spoilt. Like here, ive just noticed very little tweeting about your success. The 159 gold medals you will win seems "meh".

We get a gold and its front page news, leads off the nightly news on every tv station etc etc.

The tweets ive got about the king michael phelps has come from aussie journo's. Lol. He'd be a god down here...heck, he already is.

Its just a bit weird....you guys love your sport as much as anyone. But the olympic achievements seem to ve treated like a high school football win.

Might be wrong, but its what im feelin fellas. USA USA USA USA!!!!!...c'mon get with it! :)

Federer is simply amazing.  J M Del Potro had the match of his career and still couldn't beat Fed.

I can't shake the feeling that something strange is going to happen at/during these games. Perhaps I worry too much.

No need to apologise. It's simple but passionate, down to earth. :)

Canadian kid clayton gustio rolled aussie cameron hammond. I havent seen it yet, was close until the last rd where the maple leaf finished all over the aussie kid apparently.

Gustio was the outsider in the betting too.

Del Potro's worst surface has been grass. He certainly could beat Fed at the US open.

They said that about Djokovic and Nadal, and they both have won Wimbledon now. Delpo is no slouch on any surface. I think Federer just has his numbers. I predict a win for Fed over Murray. I really hope Murray wins a major soon, but he has a mental barrier to overcome.

Talking about tennis, Serena Williams looks good for her second gold in this Olympics. Great achievement, she probably is the best female player of the last decade even though I was never a big fan of hers.

She's won it. 6-4, 6-4. Now, it's time for men's final. My most anticipated event of this year's Olympics.

interesting role reversal pressure wise. Less pressure on Murray this time around and singles Gold Medal is the one thinh that has elluded Fed.

Murray deserved to win the match. He was the in-form player of the tournament. Federer was a completely different player from the one that won Wimbledon 28 days ago. He hasn't looked good in this Olympics and he doesn't really deserve gold medal. Maybe he has lost some focus after gaining no. 1 spot or something, but he was way below his usual standard. No wonder Murray won so easily. I think he was lucky to escape from Del Potro match as well. Congratulations to Murray. He's now going for his second gold in mixed doubles.

Well, I think it's mostly pros now. Most of athletes from advanced nations train full time, don't they? I don't know what they do to make living and I suspect they get paid from being in the sports, which is basically like professional athletes.

Hopefully its a watershed moment for Murray, winning a final, beating Fed in a 5 setter and beating Novak in the semi are all big things. Will be very interesting to see him at the US Open

Murray has been on my list of players that could win US Open for the past 3-4 years. I think he has everything needed and it's just a matter of getting some luck and overcoming the pressure now. US Open will be very interesting and I think big 4 are all genuine contenders and we have a few others who could cause upsets.

The gymnasts impressed the hell outta me. Rings... fuck me. These guys get my vote for best athletes. Stunning strength, flexibility, timing, technique, thinking under pressure, reflexes... superhuman.

Aaaand that's about all I've watched.

When are the games over?

Absolute freaks, agree.

For sheer guts and pain threshold...the rowers. Those guys are ready to die at the end of their races. They collapse in the boat as if they have been hit with a 302.
