But only one had big power.

Mark will have a field day with this one.

I suppose it would matter at what point Shavers was at in his career. He was a bit of enigma to me. At one point he seemed to have stamina issues. Then against Ali (who was near finished), he had a lot in tank, but held back too much.

I have no doubt he would have grabbed a belt today. While he's not known as a skillful fighter, he was pretty adept at closing the distance. And once he got in close, he was deadly with that right hand over the top and the right uppercut. Two shots you usually didn't see coming.

Vit is a pretty tough guy, so I don't think he's gonna flop over after the first big one (like his brother would), but how much can he take?

And can Shavers take HIS power? I can picture Vit reaching down with a right hand and dinging Earnie on the back of the head becaues he did fight with his head low. Shavers didn't have the best beard in the world, himself.

Interesting fight. I think I'll take Acorn by decision(!)

He'll press most of the way and be in Vit's chest a lot. The thing that allows him to last the distance is his good footwork. Which is another area where he's superior to Wlad.

The one that landed on Holmes

If you counted to 100 Vladimar would not get up

I think Vitali would get up but may get stopped on his feet

Last time Vitali got touched by someone with Ernies power, his face split open like a hot dog in the microwave. Besides, the only way Vit would take this fight would be to save his brother.

Shavers was almost as good as Lewis.

Because Rahman and Mccrack were much better than Shavers.

Shit, if Shavers got the free shot on Lewis's chin that Rahman got, Lennox would still be laying on the canvas today.

There is no question that Lewis was a better all around fighter, but yeah if Shavers caught him, it would be all over. Rahman`s punches are not int he same ball park as Ernie`s,

Agreed, I'd give Shavers a good shot to turn out Lewis lights.

Unfortunately, I think Vitali gets a TKO in 7 or 8 rounds. He would fight tall and have Earnie winging wild bombs. Shavers would gas pretty early with that format.

Is it possible? Sure. Is it likely? no. He's got a "punchers" chance but he really wasn't that good and quite frankly gets brought up more than he deserves.

For a fighter who is labeled as `never that good` he was the most avoided fighter in probably the greatest hw era in boxing
