You folks might like to try this book: Boxing: A Cultural History by Kasia Boddy,London: Reaktion, 478 pp. distributed in the US by University of Chicago Press.......I realize that too many words might spoil the broth, so I'll just leave you with the book FYI and possible reading pleasure. -Ron Price, Australia  (PS The New York Review of Books has a review of this book in June 2012)

I think I have this book. Good book but it got some facts wrong.
