I've only been out like 4 times this year and I don't even think I've played a full 18 once but up until last week I'd been going to the range at least 4 times a week.

I never practice. Not even when I was younger and carried a single digit handicapp. I hate the driving range.

I go at lunch because I need to get out of the office. I throw on the ol' I-Pod and I'm good to go. I actually have managed to cut back on a lot of swing flaws I had last year just by going so much this year and getting used to the reptition isntead of playing as much last year and falling back to old habits.

It works for a lot of people. I just get too bored and have never had a grass range anywhere near me. The mats are useless.

War Phil! Great comeback to show those chumps who is boss.

Damn, Sergio doubled the 1st.

I don't mind the mats stricty for practice with the Driver as I don't tee it up too high anyway. Luckily for me the range close to work has both.

The mat can straighten out your club or throw it off line. It's ok for drives. But you're better off kicking the ball than hitting irons off of it.

My bro likes to play and every so often he drags me out.  I just can't shake my baseball mechanics on a drive.  Chipping fine.  Putting fine.  Drinks at the clubhouse great.  But driving the ball is a nightmare.

I disagree about the equipment only because I feel more that you're playing against the field not the course. Naturally the course is going to play into things but everyone has the same equipment available to them so it's not like one person is at an advantage because of it.

I know what you're saying, but whats next? Have a 9000 yard course built to host the open? Which course dosent belong? Merion, NGLA, Pine Valley, Riviera, Prarie Dunes, St Andrews, Muirfield, or Torrey Pines? The great golf courses are becoming irrellevant with box grooves and Pro V1x's. I say roll back tournament equipment and keep great courses relevant.

I put it on th edges of the mat for that very reason so that way after impact it doesnt distort the swing

St Andrews is the most boring course on earth. I appreciate the history and all. But that course is pretty crappy, no matter what equiptment they are using.

You're high as a kite.(Carnoustie is) biggrin.gif  That is blasphemy. God forbid the pros have to be creative to get it close to the green. The way that everything has turned to "target golf" has cheapend the game.

Carnoustie is the best course on the British Open schedule. St Andrews is short and straight with fairways a mile wide & no water. I doubt I would shoot over 90 there unless the weather was brutal.

It just sucks that I have to miss a good bit of Game 4 and 5 because they scheduled it up against Golf. I wouldn't call them in the upper echelon of athletes. But Golf is definitely much harder than any of the major sports.

Mark- We have to agree to disagree. Id argue that Muirfield is the best of the BO rota. Out here, Ive played the overpriced bs OC courses like Pelican Hill and Torrey Pines. They dont compare to Riviera which for a fee, can be played with a well timed letter to the pro there. Who cares if there isnt water, water isnt anything but eye candy.

I am not pissed. Just have no interest in getting into the not a sport argument. Especially with someone who has never tried it. Nothing takes more hand eye coordination and it takes a lot out of you to swing a club that many times and walk miles up hills in 100 degree weather.

Fucking Italy almost lost to Romania. I know I mock soccer on the regular and I don't care for watching it. But a good friend of mine has played his whole life and is Italian. So I like to see him feel pain.

Just depends what you are accustomed to.  I mean seriously how many Americans watch baseball?  Its such a slow sport, 5 minutes between pitches and no real continuity.

Football (Soccer) and Golf are my favorite sports.   American football is pretty good as well but I hate all the hype bullshit that comes along with it.  My god how many times can you break down a football match before its played?  Waiting for the superbowl is the worst as they speculate for 2 weeks what the fuck is going to happen.

Oh and fuck the Italians.  I hate the way they play and their fans are so full of shit.

Phil is done. He dropped a nice quadruple-bogey nine on a hole.

Tiger shit the bed on the first two holes, he's three over through 3.
