I love the French open because the court is slower and there are more rallies. I like the way they slide around on the clay. That is the one surface that Federer is mortal.
I think Roger may be the greatest player of alltime.
My favorite alltime player and maybe the most overlooked was Stefan Edberg. He had good quickness and a good serve and volley game. Decent enough groundstrokes to compete. He won mutiple titles at Wimboldon ane Austrailian and the US Open. Only one he didnt get was Paris.
I can tolerate the French in the later rounds when the talent level makes it intriguing. But a 12 seed struggling to put away a no-namer in 5 sets in the 2nd round?
Can't stomach it.
Wimbledon's my favorite, and my favorite all time is Boris Becker. His first 2 titles were amazing to watch. But grass can get boring too sometimes, when you have 2 hard serve-and-volleyers and each point lasts an average of 1.4 seconds. Remember Ivanisevic-Kraijcek? That shit was fucked up to watch. Boom. Ace. Boom. Ace. switch sides. Boom. Ace. Boom. Ace.
Edberg was good too, I liked him a lot. He had heart and always stayed aggressive.
I think Sampras a hair better than Federer. Prime vs. Prime, one guy wins 6 out of 10. Pete the advantage on grass, and Fed on clay.
