I think Alabama has a good shot at beating Clemson tonight.  I won't believe the Clemson hype until I see them win a big game.  They are the type of program that never seems to be able to win the big one.

I like Missouri over Illinois in the other big game of the evening.

Dude, Clemson always shits the bed. Isn't this year 834 of Bowden's five-year plan?

That was the greatest night for Alabama football since 1992. Well maybe that's a bit much but it was pretty much perfect. We finally have real athletes again.

It was hilarious how uncompetitive it was. Like a light sparring session.

And Ohio State's gonna get worked in two weeks, Beanie Wells or not.

Goodness gracious Louisville looks like doodoo water this year!  I won't be able to go to class this week if they lose to Kentucky.

Yeah Mizzou needs their D to show steady improvement as the year progresses to win the national title I predicted for them. Luckily Chase Daniel and the O will carry them through a schedule which gets easier now for a few weeks.

That was easy to pick before Wells got hurt, if he's not 100 percent its one of the easiest "big" games to pick in a long time. No way Todd Boeckman, Robiskie and those guys are going to be able to put up enough points to keep up with USC. They're just good players, not great. They've got a couple great players on defense but USC has that and more.

They might be more motivated cause of how badly they've been embarrassed the last two years but that's not enough IMO.

Tennessee seems to find a way to screw up games like this.

They really should win though.

No shit, that's why I only bet small on them. UCLA wont be able to score unless they score for them like they just did.

How lucky is Tennessee to be going up against this quarterback?

I try to root for other SEC teams, Tennessee's the only exception.

Tenn has two solid tailbacks and could have ground UCLA into the dust with them and cruised to an easy victory.  Instead UCLA is at their 3 yard line and driving to take the lead.  Ridiculous.

BTW, the Buckeyes take USC by at least a TD if Wells is healthy.  Boeckman and the WRs are under the radar, but very solid.

Yeah, this is a lot better than I expected.  And we're going to get some more of it too, FG for Tenn.

I just can't believe that they didn't run the ball down the Bruins' throats.

My boys now almost certainly have two top 25 teams in their next three...if UCLA can do this again against Moroni's avengers on the 13th.  smile.gif

What do you think about Pat Hill?  I always liked him but couldn't figure out why no bigger programs came calling.  I know he looks like he belongs in a NASCAR event but he has done a good job even with a couple of lean years

Det:
Pat's just a good dude from what I hear and FSU paid a pretty penny to lock him up.  He has roots with the program which play a role too.  he recruited a lot of the super team in the early 90s with Dilfer and Neal under Jim Sweeney.  His kid's playing ball in high school probably affected his take too.  Never really had a chance to talk to him but he knows both my folks pretty well and they speak highly of him.  smile.gif

That's not even close. Looks like the pac 10 may be better than the ACC and Big 10. Just behind the Mountain West.

1. SEC
2. AFC North
3. NFC West
4. Big 12

My top picks for this week

1)Rice +150 money line  Memphis.  When you lose to Ole Miss by 17 and give up 41 points you have major problems.  Rice can score as witnessed by the 56 they hung on June Jones' supposed SMU Cinderella team.  The Owls win this one straight up as Chase Clement passes for TD's all night long.

2)N'Western-6 Duke. The Wildcats hammered Syracuse not that that means much anymore but Tyrell Sutton is an elite back and will have a big day.  Duke is improving but isnt at this level as of yet.

3)Texas Tech - 9.5 Nevada.  Tech will score early and often, Nevada will score some but not nearly enough in this one.  Graham Harrell wont stop passing until the final whistle, it is what Tech does.  Tech covered the spread in all their wins last season but 1.
