There has to be someone else in this vast nerd universe that knows what time it is. If not, there has to be some rock n roll fans that just don't know how spectacular these three are.

And on top of it all, I'm bombed so whatever.

Any three man band that can crank out that kind of sound is good by me. They were a thousand years before my time but even as a retarded 8 year old i jammed out merrily to Working Man. What a bad ass song.

Wow, this might be the first drunken theard Mark might have started that wasn't about Holyfield, Morales, Hearns, or Wanderlei.  Rush is awesome though.

Like I said Rush was good but anybody that has ever seen KIX live would know why I consider them the GOAT of rock music. I used to Jam to Rush but they never got me fired  up the way KIX did.

I saw a live performance on one of my DISH Network HD Music Channels two nights ago.  It was a show from 2004.  They sounded awesome, every detail.  Neil P is the only person I'd ever listen to the entire drum solo for.  If his arms aren't enough to scare any other drummer off the stage, he's got the quickest feet in the business.

Lifeson's playing in 2004 >>>>> Lifeson's playing in 1984.  It's not that he's any faster or cleaner.  He's incorporated a lot more harmonics and blips and squeels when he plays solos live.

I saw a 3-piece mariachi band play the other night that was almost as great as RUSH, but RUSH still edges out any other 3-piece band in history.

While I can completely understand why RUSH isn't to everyone's taste, considering your passion with music and instruments, I'm curious as to why you dislike them.

My passion for instruments are a distant second to my passion for music.
Lyrics that are aimed at 14 year old boys, endless, bombastic noodling, and screeching vocals that a dog can barely hear are all part of the reason why I hate that band.
If they wrote 1 decent song in their 30 plus years together, I certainly missed it.
All 3 band members are clearly good players. But if you take away their massive pedal boards and 100 piece drum kits, those guys wouldn't know what to do.
They exemplify just about everything I loath about so-called "Classic Rock".
As far as 3 piece rock bands go, I would rank them FAR behind Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, ZZ Top, Nirvana, The Meat Puppets, The Police, The Minutemen, The Jam, Green Day, Concrete Blond, The Reverend Horton Heat and about 100 others. You'll find them maybe behind Grand Funk and 1 or 2 spots ahead of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
And on second thought, I think Queen is a better band, thanks to Brian May's really fine guitar playing.

Good to read Theysaved's shout-out to Cream.  At their best, they were really fine, and deserve a lot of credit for falling right back into their sound in 2007.  Not a lot of '60s bands could do that.  Compare the Cream's 2007 comeback Royal Albert Hall Shows with what The Who's done for the past several.

I'd put Dinosaur Jr. up there among the best 3-piece bands i've ever heard.

If I was a mod, I'd ban you. Hendrix is the only one of these in their league. I'd rather listen to ten children scream than the miserable noise that was Nirvana.
